Smart distribution units designed for phase balancing, harmonic mitigation, and IEEE 519 compliance.

Project Overview

Unithium PQ-PDUs (Power Quality Distribution Units) are engineered to solve the 'Dirty Power' problem inherent in many industrial zones. Beyond simple circuit protection, these units perform real-time Phase Balancing to minimize neutral currents and prevent transformer overheating.

Each PDU is equipped with Class 1 high-speed monitoring that calculates the Total Harmonic Distortion (THDTHD) for both voltage and current:

THD=n=2Vn2V1THD = \frac{\sqrt{\sum_{n=2}^{\infty} V_n^2}}{V_1}

Where V1V_1 is the fundamental frequency (50Hz) and VnV_n are the harmonic components. By keeping THDv<5%THD_v < 5\%, we protect sensitive electronics from premature failure. The units also feature multi-stage Surge Protective Devices (SPD) capable of absorbing transients up to 40kA, providing a robust shield against atmospheric lightning and grid switching surges.

For facilities with a low lagging power factor, our PDUs can be configured with automated capacitor banks or active power filters to maintain cosϕ0.95\cos \phi \geq 0.95, effectively eliminating utility penalties and reducing the apparent power (SS) demand on the system.
